It’s that time of year again when you have to say thank you. I know it may feel like you did this last month but the truth is another year has come and gone and once again we have reached Thanksgiving Day, the one day of the year where we have to sit down and tell God our Father why we are thankful to Him.
This statement sounds shocking doesn’t it? It almost seems offensive. That’s the point. While Thanksgiving Day is an excellent reminder to all of us to be grateful for what we have, if it is the only day we do so, that is disgraceful and shame on us. As a parent I can tell you if my child only came and said thank you one time out of the year I would not allow it. I would remind him that he needs to be thankful for all the things he has been given. Why should we expect anything different when it comes to our Father in Heaven? We need to have an attitude of gratitude year round because God is providing for us year round.
Let us enjoy this day as a time to be with family and friends with good food, but let us remember that the next time to be thanful is not next year, but no later than our next day here on Earth.
Ps 136:, 26 “136 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever…26 Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven! For His mercy endures forever.”
1 Thes. 5:18 “18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
