There are a great many lessons we can learn from the account of the rich man and Lazarus found in Lk 16:19-31. I would like you to think about just one simple truth. The fact that if you were able to see and experience the pain of Hell now, you would do everything you can to keep the people you love from experiencing it.
The rich man has been forced with the realization that there is nothing he can do at this point to save himself but consider his desire stated in the following verses.
The rich man would give anything to keep his family from experiencing the same fate he has. The problem is, there is now nothing more he can do. In the same manner, some day our lives on this earth will end or the Lord will come and it will be too late for us to reach those who are lost. Do you really want to find yourself regretting having not at least tried to reach them. We do not know what may cause others to change their course, we can only give them the necessary information and pray they pay attention. The time to act is now, tomorrow may be too late. Heed the warnings we have in the following verses and do what you can while you can.
It’s not too late yet, but one day it will be.
